Photo Friday—Rural cliché

This week’s photo Friday is a a rural Vietnamese cliché.

Bright green rice fields, farmer in a traditional conical hat, thatched roof house, palm trees, terraces and a bicycle, all that is missing is a buffalo—but rest assured, there is one just out of shot. But cliché or not, this is typical of what we saw as we cycled around Cat Ba Island on the edge of the Halong Bay UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Loved that area. Glad to see you got your flights booked! Since, sadly, we won’t be on the road yet by the time you come through you MUST stop and see us in Portland on your way south. Be afraid, indeed!

Yes, quite exciting to have a set date we are leaving now. We’ll definitely make sure we stop by 🙂
