Saying goodbye to a four legged friend
It can be hard saying goodbye to the hairiest of family members.
It can be hard saying goodbye to the hairiest of family members.
After three years of saving and planning (probably not quite enough of either) the day finally came to leave on our journey. In the weeks leading up to this it was time to say goodbye, to friends, family, pets, places and all things familiar.
Three years ago, our PanAmerican road trip was just an idea that we hadn’t really made any progress on planning for. But three years ago we were given a big kick in the pants by a devastating earthquake wreaking havoc on our previously peaceful home town. Many people lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods and had their lives irrevocably changed by the events on that day. The face of our city has forever changed as a result.

Three years ago, we were sitting looking over Machu Picchu. Sick of shuffling around like we were in a busy shopping mall, we had opted for hiding from the morning crowds in the quarry. We sat down and scoffed our Snickers bars we had carried with us for just such an occasion.

It was with a heavy heart that we boarded the plane to Wellington for a long weekend of Beer tasting and general gluttony. Who am I kidding? We were practically skipping with joy, well I actually was. Ben expressed his enthusiasm through the medium of not being asleep—despite the early morning flight. As we stepped out onto the tarmac at Wellington airport we said goodbye to the budget and hello to deliciousness!
