Photo Friday—Fishing in Inle Lake

From the archives this week an image of a fisherman silhouetted against the setting sun, Inle Lake, Myanmar/Burma.

Call it what you will ‘Myanmar’ or ‘Burma’, it was an exceptional place to visit, not due as much to the scenery, although it was a beautiful country, but because of the outstanding people we met there.

For a country that is always in the news for all the wrong reasons it is full of surprises.

Despite (or perhaps because of?) the political struggles past and present the people of Myanmar/Burma are some of the warmest, friendliest and most welcoming people we have met while travelling.
