Laziness had prevented us exploring the flooded, bat poo encrusted Grutas de Lanquín. Yet, the sheer number of Guatemala’s limestone caves made it difficult to leave without exploring at least one cave. Also, we still had some unfinished business with cave tubing.

The weather became increasingly grey during our second visit to Belize. Nonetheless we found ourselves as in love with the country as we had been on the sunny beach side town of Sarteneja. But not Placencia. We still didn’t like that place.

Visiting Dawson City is like travelling back in time to the gold rush era. The dirt streets are lined with wooden boardwalks all leading to buildings that cause you to believe you have accidentally hit 88mph and travelled back to the wild west.
