While we were dilly-dallying about in Santa María del Tule we found plenty of opportunities to head into the ‘big smoke’, Oaxaca’s state capital—Oaxaca.
Sometimes on our own for errands, sometimes with friends, but nearly always with a camera.
Oaxaca city, like so many places in Mexico has a restored colonial centre.
Full of brightly coloured buildings.
Look at that detail.
Full of spendy stores.
And more artful decay.
The centre isn’t quite as alive with character as some of the outer suburbs.
But the buildings are picture postcard neat.
There’s no shortage of churches to visit.
Vibrant balloon vendors.
And elaborate facades.
Oaxaca.
Pedestrian malls.

We prefer these buildings that are a little rough around the edges.
Heading in to town one rainy afternoon with our friends from Bee Individual.
The downpours are a daily event during rainy season.
It might be raining, but it is warm enough to be pleasant.
