There was one time, way back in Belize when we were very nearly in Guatemala. Location: El Pilar ruins, Belize. Distance to Guatemala: 615.18 m (2018.32 ft) But ultimately we decided not to go, and returned to Mexico instead. We then of course faffed about for quite some time in Mexico. So long in fact that many of the friends we thought we would see again in Guatemala were, by this time, in Costa Rica, Panama, and even South America. Whoops. I suspect it is considered a crime to visit British Columbia or Alberta and not pay a visit to Jasper and Banff. Not wanting the Canadian Mounties to angrily chase us out of the country we made the detour to check out these two stunning but expensive highlights of Southwestern Canada.

Things have been pretty hectic with last-minute trip prep of late, but I decided it was well past time to start working through and publish some of the nearly written blog posts that have waited in the wings for a while. So here’s some more about Australia: Part two of our brief Australian excursion took us North to the Gold Coast to spend some time with family. Staying just inland of Surfer’s Paradise, we were treated to great hospitality, warm weather, dramatic thunderstorms, plentiful wildlife, golden beaches and abundant tropical rainforest.
