After spending some time driving aimlessly around Utah, we reached the conclusion that it is quite possibly another planet.
A lot of the time on this trip Emma is the chief Navigator. But sometimes Emma takes a nap and lets Javier, our Spanish-speaking, slightly scatterbrained GPS take charge of the navigational guidance.
Since we completely failed to be abducted by aliens in Nevada, we felt it was time for some adventures of a different kind.
The truth is out there… although it isn’t as interesting as we’d hoped. After spending time at Burning Man and in Las Vegas we felt we had probably come as close as possible to encountering alien life forms. But that wasn’t going to stop us trying our luck on the Extraterrestrial Highway.
All trips have their low points. This journey is no exception. Fortunately this particular low point is measured in altitude, not in how many hours we spent plotting to poison each other.
From one strange town that appeared from the dust of the Nevada desert to another. Las Vegas seemed like the obvious next stop after a week at Burning Man. At a glance they might seem similar. Both springing up out of an otherwise barren desert. Both full of bright lights and constant action, events and people, always something happening. But in reality they are two polar opposites.
After a couple of months travelling with no set deadlines it was a bit of a shock to suddenly have to be at a certain place at a certain time.
As we’ve mentioned, we quite enjoyed Alaska, we didn’t want to miss our last opportunity for a visit, so we made the detour to Stewart and Hyder.
